It’s Release Day for my YA novel, Smoking Flax! The book is out and available. You can have it in moments on Kindle or a few days in paperback.
I’m so grateful to all who have helped with the writing and publication of this book. When I first began writing Reed’s story, my first YA story with speculative elements, I thought it would be challenging. It was that and much more.
Worth it? Yes! Here’s the main lesson I learned: Writing is still work, no matter what genre.
On this release day, I’d like to pause and thank a few special people who have helped me so much with this story.
Deb Haggerty and Elk Lake Publishing with all their wonderful editors, cover designers, etc.
Lawrence County Writers Guild, Words Weavers Page 27 and 31.
All my writer friends who gave me advice and helped me in any way. Especially Betty Owens, Cammi Woodall, Amanda Hardin, Valerie Wilson, Jennifer Slattery, Hope Bolinger, Sandra Ardoin, C.J. Milacci, and James L. Rubart.
My friends and family. Too many to name. You know who you are. 😊 Where would I be without your constant encouragement and prayers?
Even though writing can be a solitary journey, most of us don’t do it alone. And I didn’t either.
In Smoking Flax, Reed struggles to feel like he belongs.
Fits in.
Is acceptable to others.
I’ve struggled with that at times myself. But every one of you has taught me better. Does Reed find friends like you?
Read Smoking Flax to find out.

And if you like my story, please share it with others. Leave a review on Amazon, Goodreads, or other sites. Buy copies for your friends.
Even as you read this post, I’m working on Talitha’s story. I love the way it’s moving and one day, hope you’ll enjoy it too. Until then…
