The Most Important Thing
God Found Me
I needed God early in life and He found me. When I was six-years-old, my dad became seriously ill. He never received a confirmed diagnosis though he’d been to numerous doctors. The spinal disease was similar to Muscular Dystrophy. By the time the disease had been wrestled to a state of remission, Dad was paralyzed from the lower chest down.
In his anger and confusion, Dad started searching and ran smack into God. First, he gave his life to Jesus Christ, then my mother did. I noticed a difference in their lives and soon afterward accepted Jesus for my own.
I’d love to say everything fell into perfect place after that but being an imperfect person in an imperfect world, it didn’t. I chased after God with my whole heart but hurt in my life made me religious and judgmental.
My dad’s death when I was only twenty-eight, brought me full-circle to a time when God was my first love. Slowly and graciously, He drew me back into a close relationship with Him and brought a balance in my life I’d never had before.
After Dad’s passing, I started seriously writing. It’s therapy—God and I write together, I like to say. What fun we have. 😊
Accepting Jesus as my Savior and Lord is the best decision I have ever made.
Do you know Him?
Like me, you may be ready to accept God into your life. The book of Romans, chapter 10, verses 9-10 tells us that :
“If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved.”
Pray a simple prayer, which is simply talking to God, and ask Jesus to forgive you of your sins and a life spent apart from Him. Ask Him to come live inside your heart, your innermost self. Talk to Him as you would a friend.
Congratulations! You are now a part of the family of God. Can I pray for you?
Father God, I lift up my new friend today as they start their new journey in your family. Be with them as they learn about you and grow close to you. Send people to bless them and encourage them along this life. Jesus, you pray for us always and I ask that you show yourself strong in my friend’s life. Holy Spirit, comfort and lead them as they walk the narrow path which leads to Heaven. I thank you and rejoice with the angels in Heaven as another name has been added to the book of life. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
I encourage you to read your Bible and pray often. Find a good church to teach and encourage you and be baptized as Jesus was.
You, too, now know about the most important thing…
