Hello, Friday Fiction Fans!

Confession Time.

Yep, it’s true. I enjoy reading young adult novels. And even more, I love middle-grade fiction. Not all, but the really well-written tug-at-your-heart, coming-of-age stories.

Like stories from Kate DiCamillo.

My granddaughter recommended that I read The Tiger Rising. And I’m so glad I did.

What a beautiful story of friendship. Rob and Sistine are drawn to each other as friends because of the pain in their lives. What happens when they find a tiger in the woods will surprise you as much as it did me.

If you like middle-grade fiction or a child in your life enjoys great stories, I highly recommend The Tiger Rising. Here’s more:

A National Book Award finalist by Newbery Medalist Kate DiCamillo.

Walking through the misty Florida woods one morning, twelve-year-old Rob Horton is stunned to encounter a tiger—a real-life, very large tiger—pacing back and forth in a cage. What’s more, on the same extraordinary day, he meets Sistine Bailey, a girl who shows her feelings as readily as Rob hides his. As they learn to trust each other, and ultimately, to be friends, Rob and Sistine prove that some things—like memories, and heartache, and tigers—can’t be locked up forever.
