Hello, Friday Fiction Friends!
I’m so glad you’ve joined us on our inaugural post of this new season in my life. And how fitting for it to start on my birthday. 🙂 I believe my age is like 29 or something like that…
Anyway, I’d like to talk about my friend, Hope Bolinger, and her new book, Den. It’s the second in her YA series. You can find my review of her first book, Blaze, here.
Here’s a little more about Den:
Danny Belte barely survived his sophomore year at King’s Academy, having to deal with horrible initiation practices, stomach-churning cafeteria food, and the constant threat of arson.
His junior year doesn’t start off much better. Facing a series of mysterious suicide attempts that begin on day one—and a disturbing pattern that appears to connect them—Danny has a feeling something far more sinister is at play. He tries to narrow down a list of suspects as those closest to him disappear, one by one.
Can he protect his friends from a possible murderer on the loose? Or will he find himself trapped in a fate worse than a lions’ den?
I found Den a really intense read and the suicide/murder attempts were difficult for me since it involved young teens. I have pre-teen grandchildren and it made it even more real to me. Like Blaze, the second book in the series was hard to put down because I needed to know what would happen next. I liked Daniel and his friends for their bravery and perseverance and can’t wait for the third book in the series to release.
