Hello, Favorite Friday Fiction Fans! If you’ve been keeping up with many of these posts, you’ll know I’m a big fan of the Golden Age of Detective mysteries. And a huge Agatha Christie fan. I’m in the middle of reading all her books. There are around 70, I believe. Anyway, I’m loving the one I’m on now: The Man in the Brown Suit. It reminds me just a little bit of MoonSpinners, one of my all-time favorite books. There’s action, adventure, mystery, and romance. My favorite combination. I can’t wait to find out whodunnit 🙂
The Man in the Brown Suit is Agatha Christie at her best, as a young woman makes a dangerous decision to investigate a shocking “accidental” death she witnesses at a London tube station.
Pretty, young Anne came to London looking for adventure. In fact, adventure comes looking for her—and finds her immediately at Hyde Park Corner tube station. Anne is present on the platform when a thin man, reeking of mothballs, loses his balance and is electrocuted on the rails.
The Scotland Yard verdict is accidental death. But Anne is not satisfied. After all, who was the man in the brown suit who examined the body? And why did he race off, leaving a cryptic message behind: “17-122 Kilmorden Castle”?
Can there be an Agatha Christie story I have not read? Or can I be so old that I have forgotten this one? Whatever the answer, thank you so much for this lovely review, Jennifer!
Blessings on you.
I’ve never heard of this one. Sounds fun.
I really enjoyed this as much as any of hers I’ve read…
