Why I Wrote Waiting for God
I can’t stand it anymore. Please . . . take me home. My prayer scared me. Had I truly asked God to end my suffering by ending my life? Slumping to my knees, I sobbed. Had my ongoing battle with chronic pain weakened my faith? As God comforted me, He reminded me of the countless weary and lamenting faith-warriors who always returned to confidence in His all-knowing goodness, faithfulness, and love.
Through their stories, He strengthened my resolve until my bout with debilitating pain finally subsided. I thanked Him for encouraging me when I wanted to give up and began writing Waiting for God. As I wrote, I prayed for those whose stories I had the privilege of sharing. I continue praying for those who, like me, desperately need peace, strength, comfort, and enduring hope while waiting for God and trusting daily in His plan and pace. ~Xochitl Dixon
Xochitl Dixon is a prayer warrior and a woman well acquainted with suffering. She pours her pain onto the pages of her book and in the process leads readers to the One who can heal.
Thirty-one devotionals lead off with a short story. The Inhale portion of the devotional allows us to breathe in the Word of God through a relevant passage of scripture. The Exhale portion offers a sample prayer, allowing the reader to connect lesson and scripture.
Dixon’s stories are fresh and engaging. She never fails to bring the reader into a deeper understanding of the Word of God. I highly recommend this book!
