About Jennifer Hallmark
Southern Author
Why Stories from Off the Beaten Track?
As an insatiable reader from a young age, I’ve read almost every genre but my favorites are mystery, fantasy, science fiction, supernatural, slipstream, anything different, especially if it takes place in the South.
I remember checking books out of the library about UFO’s, Bigfoot, space, and medieval times. My college English assignments centered around the legend of King Arthur. My teacher’s favorite essay I titled “How to Bathe a Dragon.”
The “original” Twilight Zone scared and fascinated me. I loved the incredible twists each story held. I still have memories of episodes that haven’t left me. Here’s the one I remember most.
My only problem is I want to bring hope instead of horror. Can I write stories that will have unforgettable characters, action and suspense, but with a positive twist?
That’s where I am on this journey.
Stay tuned for my new YA novel titled “Smoking Flax” due to be released in January 2024.
